Each title starts as a manuscript with a single virtue at its centre — bravery, honesty, patience, kindness — and a reading band that sets how long the sentences can be. A book is written for one sitting: about eight to ten leaves, each carrying one idea.
From there the book is illustrated as layered paper art, narrated line by line, and assembled into a bundle with everything the reader needs inside it: the text, the pictures, the narration and the word help. That bundle is what gets downloaded, and it is checked against a published hash before the app will offer it for offline reading.
Word help is chosen deliberately. The words a book teaches are picked for their sounds, not for their length, and each one carries a spoken definition so a child can hear it in context.
Reading bands
Books are grouped by reading band rather than by grade. Band 1 titles suit children just starting to follow print — short sentences, plenty of repetition, and a familiar shape. Band 2 titles keep the same gentle pace but ask a little more of a reader who is ready for it.
Three of the titles on the shelf are free to read. The rest arrive with a subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play and shared across a family by an adult account.
